The New York Power Authority (NYPA) is planning to construct more renewable energy projects through the NYPA Renewables legislation, which gives the organization expanded authority to develop, own and operate projects that help the state reach its renewable energy goals. In this session, NYPA will share its major transmission projects in the works. The Authority and its sister state agencies are working together to advance the state’s bold efforts to decarbonize its economy.

In this session, Commissioner Burman will share some of her reflections over her ten years on the Commission, give a current snapshot of where things are and where things are headed, and offer some lessons for all in the energy regulatory space.

The New York Power Authority (NYPA) has several transmission projects in the works. Clean Path NY and Propel NY Energy will open up transmission pathways enabling more clean, renewable power to be delivered to load centers with high energy demands. Hear how NYPA Development and other teams are helping to realize more transmission investment than has happened in the last 50 years. Central East Energy Connect, Smart Path, Smart Path Connect are additional lines that are recently energized or nearly completed.

This panel will explore distribution-side non-wire solutions integration strategies, their benefits for both customers and the electric grid, and their role in NYC’s clean energy goals. Examine the effects of evolving generation, load patterns, and storage on the grid while considering Dual Participation in RTO Markets. Harness remote dispatch and Distributed Energy Resource Management Systems (DERMS) for efficient DER management, identify grid investment chances, and address capacity limitations. Lastly, discuss approaches for responding to variability or loss of generation sources.

Your registration may be transferred to a member of your organization up to 24 hours in advance of the event. Cancellations must be received on or before November 10, 2023 in order to be refunded and will be subject to a US $195.00 processing fee per registrant. No refunds will be made after this date. Cancellations received after this date will create a credit of the tuition (less processing fee) good toward any other EUCI event. This credit will be good for six months from the cancellation date.
