The rise of women leaders in construction and engineering is a remarkable transition in an industry that has long been dominated by men. As more women enter these fields, they bring diverse perspectives, innovative ideas, and fresh approaches, leading to improved project outcomes. But, in a recent poll by Levelset, only 1% of women in construction reported having female company leadership. The goal of this event is to help female professionals advance in the traditionally male-dominated fields of engineering and construction.

Immerse yourself in the collective wisdom of these trailblazing leaders as they share their industry knowledge and proven strategies for positive organizational change and personal growth. Register now to learn from and collaborate with the top women influencers in engineering and construction.  You’ll leave this event with practical strategies to propel your career forward.

        Workshop

        Defeating Your Inner Bully

        Tuesday, March 5, 2024 : Mountain Time

        8:00 – 8:30 a.m.
Registration, Continental Breakfast / Online Log In

        8:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
        Workshop Timing

We’ve all done it. We’ve all been there. “You idiot!” “Why weren’t you paying attention!” “What were you thinking!” “That was stupid, stupid, stupid!” We’ve yelled at ourselves and beat ourselves down. And when we’re struggling, this voice gets increasingly loud, even starting to drown out all those positive mantras, affirmations, and any successes we experience. Why? Because most of us have a lot of negative external (and internal) input to overcome! The inner bully is a not-so-friendly voice or feeling within us constantly reminding us of our mistakes or failures from the past. Or what we don’t like about ourselves. Many up-and-coming female leaders must overcome these negative thoughts, sometimes referred to as “imposter syndrome”, as they advance into senior roles. In this workshop you’ll gain skills to:

        • Stand up to your inner bully by catching it and looking it straight in the eye
        • Acknowledge where the bully comes from, and instead of battling it, just hear it
        • Stop letting your inner bully run what you do or don’t do

Attend this workshop to learn what your bully is saying and gain the skills to turn down its voice and regain the power in your life!

        Learning Outcomes

        • Define Imposter Syndrome & the language of your inner bully
        • Gain insight into origins of negative thoughts
        • Develop strategies to overcome negative thoughts
        • Explore best practices for gaining core confidence
        • Identify methods to take back your power and find your inner warrior

Requirements for Successful Completion of Program

Participants must sign in/out and be in attendance for the entirety of the workshop to be eligible for continuing education credit.

        Instructional Methods

PowerPoint, group discussion, and interactive Q&A will be used in this workshop.

        Workshop Instructor

        Theresa Byrne, CPF, CPQC

Theresa Byrne is a global TED.com speaker (over 300k views on her talk, “The Dangers of Your Inner Bully”) and an award-winning author and trainer. Theresa is a nationally recognized expert in self-empowerment and a Master Instructor in martial arts, and personal self-defense, and uses her experience to teach others (she’s worked directly with over 40,000 clients) how to activate their inner power using concepts like how adrenaline affects our bodies and mindset, and why boundaries are the secret to staying sane.

Theresa also healed a devastating TBI from a car accident! Many speak about neuroscience, but how many people have HAD to use it to rebuild their brains and their lives? She has. She had to – there was no other choice other than to stay “neurologically disabled”. A natural-born protector, she’s a self-defense expert and the first woman to earn the rank of Master Instructor in her system of martial arts. She helps people get unstuck, find balance, and use positive boundaries.
