Substation Superintendent, United PowerTo the layman, a substation is a self-sustaining/automated compound of large equipment operated by intelligent controls. The value of these assets demands skilled staff and disciplined servicing interval to keep devices operating at peak efficiency. Contingency planning includes switching schemes that will remove and safely isolate devices for maintenance, repair and/or replacement.
This course begins with a definition of substation asset management, then moves to the components of such a program. Attendees will learn the ground level data basis such as equipment inventory, maintenance schedules, work order systems and management of internal and external resources.
