The north Omaha coal plant is moving away from using coal.
The president and CEO of the Omaha Public Power District said during a committee meeting Monday that the plant will be transitioning to natural gas in 2026.
“We’re getting them to that level of planning of converting the plant from a coal-burning, power generation plant to a natural gas burning power generation plant,” Javier Fernandez, OPPD CEO, said.
