“EUCI is one of the best ways to keep up on trends in the utility business!”
Principal Assistant City Attorney, City of Glendale Water and Power“Great speakers. I enjoyed hearing from them and learning about their experiences with Interconnection.”
Senior Program Manager – Transmission Service Regulatory Stakeholder Services & Contracts, Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA)“The interaction with EUCI and the attendees gives everyone the ability to lean on each other’s experiences that hopefully mitigate the challenges when you happen to go through the same thing yourself.”
Supervisor Distribution Design, AmerenRenewable energy interconnection is becoming increasingly complex as transmission planning, regulatory reforms, and grid constraints evolve. This conference will offer a practical look at how developers, utilities, and regulators are adapting to shifting requirements and working to streamline the path to grid connection. Attendees will explore technical solutions, policy impacts, and strategies to reduce delays and improve outcomes.
Please Note: This event is being conducted entirely online. All attendees will connect and attend from their computer, one connection per purchase. For details please see our FAQ
If you are unable to attend at the scheduled date and time, we make recordings available to all attendees for 7 days after the event
Your registration may be transferred to a member of your organization up to 24 hours in advance of the event. Cancellations must be received on or before January 16, 2026 in order to be refunded and will be subject to a US $195.00 processing fee per registrant. No refunds will be made after this date. Cancellations received after this date will create a credit of the tuition (less processing fee) good toward any other EUCI event. This credit will be good for six months from the cancellation date. In the event of non-attendance, all registration fees will be forfeited. In case of conference cancellation, EUCIs liability is limited to refund of the event registration fee only. This presentation will explore interconnection moving out of its silo and becoming part of transmission planning. Some discussion topics include:
Ted Thomas Founding Partner Energize Strategies
This presentation will examine the key challenges developers face when interconnecting generation projects including high interconnection costs, lengthy queue backlogs, and inconsistent requirements across transmission providers. It will also explore how recent policy reforms aim to address these issues and improve the overall interconnection process.
Brindavani Malladi Vice President – Transmission and Interconnection Arevon Energy, Inc.
Puget Sound Energy will share practical insights from its transition from serial queue to cluster study interconnection processes under FERC Order No. 2023.
Jeremy Ciarabellini Supervisor Transmission Services – OATT Administration Puget Sound Energy
This session will explore three critical and interrelated areas of risk that frequently delay renewable energy interconnection projects with a focus on DERs, solar and BESS.
Mahir Derman Founder & CEO Provolt Energy
Grid Enhancing Technologies unlock additional capacity on the existing grid, either through dynamic line ratings, advanced power flow control, or topology optimization. They can often reduce the costs of interconnection upgrades, compared to traditional solutions. Presenters will cover key applications of GETs for interconnection, as well as new tools for transmission owners to analyze GETs applications for interconnection. While some capacity from GETs is dynamic, it is often correlated with wind energy output. Other GETs projects, such as from Modular Static Synchronous Series Compensators, can be firm.
Julia Selker Executive Director WATT Coalition
This session will cover the structure of the Hybrid Power Plants and will focus on the grid interconnection process challenges including commissioning, model performance validation, and compliance with NERC and IEEE2800.2 requirements. It will also highlight the opportunities and recommendations for best interconnection practices and enhanced performance.
Thair Shaker Mahmoud, PhD, SMIEEE MIEAust NER, Planning Engineer Lead ERCOT
For more than a decade, Dominion Energy has thoughtfully and thoroughly prepared to deliver its largest new generation project to the grid. This project will deliver 2.6 GW of new, renewable power to the fastest growing load region in the United States. Providing enough power for up to 660,000 homes requires significant interconnection improvements to the electric grid. This session will discuss Dominion Energy’s interconnection efforts on the electric transmission grid in coordination with PJM and other planned renewable projects, and how transmission owners and operators can comprehensively connect customers with large renewable projects through strategic public engagement, targeted communications, and meaning-making messaging.
