“Electricity 101 training course was informative in understanding the basics of utility operations. Being new to utility industry, this has been helpful in getting to know how power utility works.”
Supervisor Accountant, Bureau of Indian AffairsThis one-day course on electricity fundamentals is specifically designed for non-engineering professionals who work in or with electric utilities. The course aims to provide complete beginners with a solid foundational understanding of electricity—what it is, how it works, how to use it safely, and how it applies to everyday life. Through a series of structured sessions, participants will learn about the basics of electrical theory, including key concepts such as voltage, resistance, and Ohm’s Law. Additionally, distinctions between AC and DC power, and the key components of electrical circuits will be explored, providing a comprehensive overview of the subject.
Beyond theoretical knowledge, the course offers practical insights into how electricity is generated, transmitted, and safely used. Participants will gain valuable information on electrical safety, including how to avoid electric shock and electrocution, proper insulation and grounding, and home electrical safety tips. This knowledge can be directly applied to real-world scenarios, ensuring that attendees leave with the confidence to safely interact with and understand electrical systems in their day-to-day work and personal environments. Overall, the course is an excellent opportunity for non-engineers to demystify electricity and gain useful skills in a supportive and informative setting.
