Control Room Management: Guidance for and Lessons Learned from Developing and Implementing a Workable Program
Event Description and Agenda:
The Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) regulations for control room management (CRM) prescribe extensive safety requirements for controllers and control rooms that remotely monitor and control liquid and gas pipelines which are regulated under 49 CFR, Parts 192 and 195. Owners and operators of these pipelines must develop, implement, and document their policies and procedures, training of personnel, and incorporation of the CRM requirements into the operations across pipeline systems.
The "Control Room Management: Guidance for and Lessons Learned from Developing and Implementing a Workable Program" webinar will provide information that has been gained from practical experience in more than 100 control rooms. The speaker will describe the lessons learned from multiple CRM projects. These projects included CRM plan development and implementation, regulatory compliance assurance, fatigue risk management, alarm management, workload assessments, and training programs. He will discuss the process for improving a CRM plan, who shares the responsibility for maintaining a workable program, what roadblocks might be encountered, and he will review how to simplify the annual review process.
