Overview

Nearly 40% of water utility staff is expected to retire over the next decade. Whether you are looking to train incoming staff to take on new leadership roles or you are an experienced leader looking to sharpen your skills, this course will leave you with a better understanding of your leadership style through a series of hands on self-assessment exercises and will give new ideas on how you can promote your team to take ownership of their roles.

Leadership Development for Water Sector Utilities will help attendees to understand key characteristics of an effective utility leader, how to assess leadership styles against organizational culture, discuss the interpersonal skills needed to lead your team, and will define the core responsibilities of a water utility leader considering current industry challenges and trends.

Cindy is focused on building the water workforce of the future. Over 30 years’ experience in leadership and management positions, strategic planning, with an emphasis on business solutions, workforce development, asset management, project management, and budgeting. Recognized as an industry expert in workforce planning and leadership development, development of knowledge management and transfer programs, integrated information system development and ‘Effective Utilities Management (EUM)’.

Richard Gerstberger is President and Principal Consultant with TAP Resource Development Group, Inc.. After graduating from Arizona State University with a degree in Civil Engineering, Richard began his professional career designing and managing the construction of local government and utility projects. He then moved to the public side where he has served as Utility Engineering Manager, Assistant Public Works Director, Director of Utility Operations, and Public Works Director. As Public Works Director, Richard’s responsibilities included a broad range of municipal services along with the city’s water, wastewater and electric utilities. After receiving an MBA from Colorado State University he taught management and organizational development at the university level; followed by working as a program manager for the AWWA Research Foundation. In 1994 Richard began his management consulting career. All together he has over 35 years of professional experience with utility and government organizations.

Richard has designed and implemented strategic planning, organizational assessments, leadership and employee development, performance management, and coaching services for EPA, utilities, public works and other organizations from California to South Carolina, to Florida

We will be using Microsoft Teams to facilitate your participation in the upcoming event. You do not need to have an existing Teams account in order to participate in the broadcast – the course will play in your browser and you will have the option of using a microphone to speak with the room and ask questions, or type any questions in via the chat window and our on-site representative will relay your question to the instructor.

  • You will receive a meeting invitation will include a link to join the meeting.

Cancellation Policy

Your registration may be transferred to a member of your organization up to 24 hours in advance of the event. Cancellations must be received on or before September 18, 2020 in order to be refunded and will be subject to a US $195.00 processing fee per registrant. No refunds will be made after this date. Cancellations received after this date will create a credit of the tuition (less processing fee) good toward any other EUCI event. This credit will be good for six months from the cancellation date. In the event of non-attendance, all registration fees will be forfeited. In case of conference cancellation, EUCIs liability is limited to refund of the event registration fee only.
