This secondary-level course is designed for those who are already familiar with liquefied natural gas and the natural gas industry as a whole. The program will kick-off with a review of the basics as well as a Q&A to establish the foundation for those who just attended the LNG 101 course, or for those who need a quick catch-up before we advance onto the meat of the agenda. From there, attendees will learn how to distinguish small and large units and conversation factors and why LNG is a transportation method and not a commodity. We’ll continue onto LNG markets and how they are evolving, small versus large contracts, the difference of end use versus distribution, risks that include hedging and best practices, and the evolution of LNG and where the industry is going.

Throughout the day and a half, this course will heavily highlight real-world examples and case studies to connect the dots from course content to practical applications. Although this is designed to be a continuation of the LNG 101 course, it is also encouraged for those who already understand the fundamentals and would like a more concrete or holistic understanding of the business to attend as well.

Kamran Javed, General Manager – LNG Business, JERA Energy America

Kamran Javed is a consummate oil and gas professional with experiences up and down the value chain with over 21 years of work at firms like ConocoPhillips, Chevron, RasGas and JERA Energy America.  However, his passion lies in the LNG realm especially in regard to the commercial aspects and “revolution” of the LNG business model.

Kamran’s experience in LNG is gained from prior roles at ConocoPhillips in the Atlantic & Pacific Basin LNG Marketing Business Unit, Short-Term Marketer at RasGas and current role as General Manager at JERA Energy America.  These roles have taken him far and wide across the globe on a working desire to seek win-win business relationships.  Having worked for the second largest LNG producer and largest LNG buyer gives him unique a perspective to understand both sides of the equation which has led to speaking roles at prior conferences like IGU World Gas Conference (Paris) 2015, CWC/DMG Events Americas Summit 2018 & 2021, and Platts 19th Annual LNG Conference 2020. 

Sam Thigpen, CEO, Sapphire Gas Solutions

As the CEO of Sapphire Gas Solutions, a natural gas solutions company based in Conroe, TX, Mr. Thigpen continually supports the growing use of LNG in various industries and applications across North America. During his 20+ years in the natural gas industry, Mr. Thigpen has experience in gas processing, offshore service, international plant services, pipeline operations, new pipeline and facility construction, executive leadership, and the execution of buy/sell transactions. Prior to being selected as CEO of Sapphire, Mr. Thigpen founded and led Thigpen Energy, and later Thigpen Solutions, which are now both a part of Sapphire Gas Solutions. Mr. Thigpen studied Finance and International Business at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, TX.

Cancellation Policy

Your registration may be transferred to a member of your organization up to 24 hours in advance of the event. Cancellations must be received on or before May 07, 2021 in order to be refunded and will be subject to a US $195.00 processing fee per registrant. No refunds will be made after this date. Cancellations received after this date will create a credit of the tuition (less processing fee) good toward any other EUCI event. This credit will be good for six months from the cancellation date. In the event of non-attendance, all registration fees will be forfeited. In case of conference cancellation, EUCIs liability is limited to refund of the event registration fee only.
