5G: Next Generation Communication Network Planning for Electric Utilities [POSTPONED]
July 27-28, 2020 | Denver, CO

Download PDFPrint Event Details

The level of expectation created around 5G and the next generation network is huge – but as always, the reality will be something different. The options for public network utilisation vs private usage is of great interest to utility companies, as is the potential for hybrid options, network slicing and options for integration with other last mile connectivity solutions such as satellite and legacy copper. The 5G: Next Generation Communication Network Planning for Electric Utilities course provides a detailed technical understanding of the solution as well as a more general conceptual appreciation for higher level managers who are seeking to understand what 5G can do for them. Join us to gain an understanding of what is available right now (or the next 18 months) and what is realistic in terms of future expectations regarding the deployment of the fifth-generation network.  Dive deep into the development of new LTE standards and frequency band allocation through 3GPP and the advancement of additional functionality in future LTE (5G) releases for the support of various vertical sectors such as rail, emergency services and of course utilities. This course will focus on ecosystems and trends for new communication networks, the technologies and the fit for different services, and business cases and implementation of the fifth generation communication network.

Learning outcomes

  • Define the roles and responsibilities of deployment team members and 3rd party entities
  • Manage stakeholder and customer expectations for network deployment and inherent construction
  • Allocate sufficient resources and proper timelines to support manageable technology deployment
  • Provide value propositions for network solutions that best fit your organization’s goals whether public, private or hybridized communications networks
  • Mitigate risks and challenges for successful 5G deployment
  • Establish new technology initiative deployment goals and plan
