Electric Vehicles 101, April 20-21, 2021

Electric Vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure is being rapidly deployed around the country, as the EV market grows and electrification goals are increasingly mandated by policy makers and utility decarbonization goals.  Despite this hyper focus to build out EV infrastructure as quickly as possible, special attention is needed to successfully navigate the planning process necessary to properly prepare for this new technology and the major challenges that can be involved.  Each EV charging infrastructure project will require a critical due diligence review of considerations specific to the project and the life-cycle of its charging stations, with attention paid to the three phases of 1) design, 2) construction & installation, and 3) ongoing inspections, operations and maintenance.

This specialized symposium is designed to provide expert insight on the EV charging infrastructure development market, providing holistic coverage of the financial, technical, and regulatory due diligence items involved in planning for new charging infrastructure build-outs.  It will address due diligence topics such as: site evaluation, customer charging behavior, technical installation, inspection and maintenance, resiliency planning for natural disasters/power shut-offs, and more.  This program will feature perspectives and case studies from multiple entities involved, including utilities, charging infrastructure providers, auto manufacturers, and other top EV experts.

Blake Brosa, Senior Vice President – Building and Infrastructure Division – Building Assessments and Project Management Group, Bureau Veritas

Blake Brosa is a Senior Vice President of Sales with Bureau Veritas’s Building & Infrastructure Division, responsible for consulting Fortune 500 Retail, Restaurant, Banking, Hospitality, Healthcare, C-store, Grocery, Auto, and Electric Vehicle Charging clients throughout the real estate life cycle. Brosa was previously a Senior Project Manager with BV. Prior to that, he enjoyed a six-year tenure with the nation’s second largest discount retailer, Target Corporation. During his first year there, he became the company’s youngest Owner’s Site Representative. After successfully managing numerous merchant and facilities-driven construction programs as a Project Manager, Brosa was selected to lead a three-year engagement to develop and implement industry-leading strategic sourcing and negotiation practices for purchasing architectural, engineering, construction, facilities, and corporate real estate professional services.  By 2015, he had been named Manager of Construction, singled out to cultivate relationships with store operations executives and to lead teams advancing key strategic initiatives and projects. While Blake is well versed in all areas of construction and facilities management, clients specifically benefit from his extensive knowledge in assessing clients’ strategic initiatives, assembling and mobilizing cross-functional teams, and developing scalable programs that are designed to optimize speed to market and maximize overall value. Blake’s corporate construction experience allows him to quickly relate to clients’ challenges, assist in navigating complex issues, and provide unique solutions and cost-savings recommendations throughout the life cycle of projects.


Simon Horton, Senior Project Manager – Transportation Electrification Project Management, Southern California Edison (invited)

Simon Horton is a Senior Project Manager in the Transportation Electrification department of Transmission & Distribution, Southern California Edison. He is the Lead Project Manager for the assessment, design and construction of all utility-led electric vehicle infrastructure programs, and has extensive utility interconnection design and construction experience including both utility driven and customer requested project types.  At SCE, he is a subject matter expert for infrastructure deployment at medium and heavy duty sites including transit, cargo handling, ports and airports, over-the-road and off-road vehicles.  Simon Horton has construction design, permitting and implementation experience in both the public and private sectors. 


Bryan Jungers, Senior Manager, Customer Energy Solutions, E-Source

Bryan Jungers, Senior Manager, Customer Energy Solutions, E Source\Bryan Jungers conducts research on emerging, energy-efficient, and distributed energy resource technologies. His main areas of expertise lie in electric vehicles, electric motors, batteries and energy storage, distributed generation, and renewable power systems. Bryan brings to the company over 10 years of professional experience as an energy engineer and research analyst, including for the Electric Power Research Institute, California Energy Commission, and University of California at Davis. His industry knowledge, combined with hands-on experience, enable him to address member needs from a holistic, systems-oriented perspective. Bryan worked as both a research manager and product manager before entering his current role. He holds a BS in environmental engineering from Humboldt State University and an MS in civil and environmental engineering from the University of California at Davis.


Stacey Noblet, Senior Transportation Director, ICF

Stacy Noblet is a Senior Director of Transportation at ICF where she leads the company’s clean transportation efforts. Stacy is an electric vehicle and charging infrastructure subject matter expert, working with public and private clients to plan for and meet goals related to transportation electrification. For more than 15 years, she has supported federal, state, and local efforts to increase the use of clean fuels and technologies in the transportation sector. Stacy earned a masters degree in environmental sciences and policy from Johns Hopkins University and bachelors degrees from Western Michigan University.


Carrie Shirley, Program Manager, Bureau Veritas

Carrie Shirley is a Program Manager at Bureau Veritas, where she is responsible for development and implementation of best practices, standardized procedures, and program playbooks across the project management division.  In her role, Carrie evaluates existing processes for BV and client programs, manages project management standards, and develops and implements division metrics process for measuring program performance.  She currently manages a Project Manager division team responsible for ensuring consistent execution by coordinators across accounts, managing workloads, and mentoring Project Coordinator team.

Cancellation Policy

Your registration may be transferred to a member of your organization up to 24 hours in advance of the event. Cancellations must be received on or before March 19, 2021 in order to be refunded and will be subject to a US $195.00 processing fee per registrant. No refunds will be made after this date. Cancellations received after this date will create a credit of the tuition (less processing fee) good toward any other EUCI event. This credit will be good for six months from the cancellation date. In the event of non-attendance, all registration fees will be forfeited. In case of conference cancellation, EUCIs liability is limited to refund of the event registration fee only.
