Leadership Tactics for Identifying Hazards & Mitigating Risks, April 2-3, 2020 | Online
This course provides a review of the hazards that exist within an electrical system. The course will include discussion points on substations and overhead and underground electrical lines, as well as electrical hazards that exist in residential, commercial, institutional, and industrial environments.
Electrical equipment and power lines may pose significant hazards to those in proximity to exposed electrical parts or downed wires. You must be able to recognize and control electrical hazards to avoid bodily injury before taking actions, whether they be job task or emergency related. This program is designed as an overview of basic electrical safety for individuals with limited electrical training who as a part of their work may be potentially exposed to electrical hazards. This is an awareness-level course for those wanting to become better educated on the hazards of electricity and is helpful for any of those new to the electrical safety field or who are transitioning into more of a safety role at their utility. This course is helpful to employees who work with electricity directly, including electricians, power line workers, and engineers. However, those in attendance who work around electricity but are not qualified to directly handle electrical components, such as managers and supervisors who may strictly oversee on-site teams, will also benefit from this course to gain a better understanding of what they should be on the lookout for.
Upon completion of this electrical safety awareness, members will be able to describe the fundamentals of electricity and its effect on the body, recognize electrical hazards to avoid becoming a victim, make informed decisions regarding the appropriate actions to take during an electrical emergency, and be familiar with the medical treatment for persons exposed to electricity.

- Discuss OSHA requirements, qualifications, and compliance
- Assess how to react to and navigate electrical hazards and issues during emergency response, as well as how to respond to personnel injuries and fatalities
EUCI has been accredited as an Authorized Provider by the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET). In obtaining this accreditation, EUCI has demonstrated that it complies with the ANSI/IACET Standard which is recognized internationally as a standard of good practice. As a result of their Authorized Provider status, EUCI is authorized to offer IACET CEUs for its programs that qualify under the ANSI/IACET Standard.
EUCI is authorized by IACET to offer 1.1 CEUs for this event.
Requirements for Successful Completion of Program
You must be logged in for the entire presentation and send in the evaluation after the course is completed.
PowerPoint presentations, interactive group exercise, and group discussion will be used during this course.

Christopher Stock, Safety Program Administrator, Eversource Energy
Christopher Stock is a Program Administrator who leads a team of safety professionals within a large electric utility located in the New England region. He has more than seven years in the electric utility industry and currently serves as the technical and internal management resource in support of the organization’s overall occupational safety management system. Job duties include design and implementation of universal safety programs to include serious injury and fatality (SIF) prevention, human performance excellence, prevention through design, and general OSHA compliance. His passion for the industry focuses on the education of potential hazards related to the electrical system and how to mitigate them. Christopher has worked with countless community officials, public departments, and local businesses to present electrical safety awareness in a partnership between the utility and the communities in which they serve to better educate residents, first responders, and workers.
Christopher has previous experience working within the manufacturing sector for Tyco International Fire & Security in the safety compliance sector, as well as serving in South Korea with the United States ARMY conducting field artillery operations.
Christopher holds a BS in Occupational Safety & Health Sciences from Keene State College and a MA in Business Management from University of Phoenix. Safety credentials include being an Associate Safety Professional (ASP) and a Certified Utility Safety Professional (CUSP).
