Business Essentials for Utility Fiber Optics Deployment

As utilities begin and continue fiber optics deployment, business processes and protocol require essential structure and planning for investor owned and large municipal utilities.
When developing, designing and managing a fiber optic network for a large electric utility, ease of access to information is essential. Attendees will gain valuable knowledge for business strategy development, financing, designing and maintenance of building successful, private and public fiber networks for IOU’s and large municipals. The Business Essentials for Fiber Optics Deployment course will provide in-depth case studies throughout the United States, overviewing their processes of deploying fiber, securing their infrastructure and maintaining a reliable network.
- Strategize how fiber optics can meet the internal communication needs for the overall WAN backbone and the backhaul for SCADA, AMI, DA and other critical infrastructure
- Review how the architecture for an internal use of fiber optics can be scaled for wholesale commercial use of fiber optics
- Identify dark-fiber wholesale opportunities for new revenue streams for utility or partner owned fiber optics
- Assess how to adapt to a changing regulatory environment in order to seize future opportunities
- Design financing strategies to drive successful implementation for electric utility fiber optics networks
- Analyze key trends in the U.S. Telecom market and what it means to large electric utilities
- Engage and enhance partnerships among government entities and vendors
- Design business plans to accelerate deployment of electric utility fiber optics networks
- Discuss best practices for maintaining and managing a reliable fiber network
- Review best practices for marketing fiber optics networks and leasing dark fiber
EUCI has been accredited as an Authorized Provider by the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET). In obtaining this accreditation, EUCI has demonstrated that it complies with the ANSI/IACET Standard which is recognized internationally as a standard of good practice. As a result of their Authorized Provider status, EUCI is authorized to offer IACET CEUs for its programs that qualify under the ANSI/IACET Standard.
EUCI is authorized by IACET to offer 0.6 CEUs for this event.
Requirements for Successful Completion of Program

Electric utilities constructing a fiber network will likely have different financing options than are typically available when constructing electric plant. From increased scrutiny of the business plan to loan structures, utilities should be prepared and anticipate the requirements necessary for fiber loans.

Your registration may be transferred to a member of your organization up to 24 hours in advance of the event. Cancellations must be received on or before February 28, 2020 in order to be refunded and will be subject to a US $195.00 processing fee per registrant. No refunds will be made after this date. Cancellations received after this date will create a credit of the tuition (less processing fee) good toward any other EUCI event. This credit will be good for six months from the cancellation date. In the event of non-attendance, all registration fees will be forfeited. In case of conference cancellation, EUCIs liability is limited to refund of the event registration fee only.
