Drilling 101, March 11, 2019 in Houston, TX

In petroleum production, completion is the process of making a well ready for production. Understanding the completions process is important for many non-technical professionals working within the oil and gas industry. This course is intended for individuals with little to no prior completions knowledge who will benefit from learning more about the completions process.

The instructor, who has decades of “boots on the ground” experience, will discuss the steps of the well completions process. Different types of completion design will be covered, including open-hole, perforated, guyed-lattice structures, and more. Attendees will leave the course with a basic understanding of wellbore and completion equipment. The course will also address topics such as completion fluids, stimulation, and special completions.

Learning Outcomes

Attendees to this course will:

  • Address the basic steps of well completion
  • Describe completion design
  • Identify wellbore and completion equipment
  • Discuss completion fluids
  • Evaluate stimulation methods
  • Recognize special types of completion
  • Review completions testing methods
