The energy sector has charged forward to address issues of diversity, equity and inclusion, but there is still much work to be done. Fewer than half of surveyed energy workers across race and ethnicity were optimistic about their company’s diversity and inclusion in recruitment, hiring, promotion, and leadership roles. (Diversity in the U.S. Energy Workforce, 2021, NASEO)

Current energy leaders must show an understanding of DEI work. Companies have realized that issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion are just as important as corporate finance and governance. Benefits of a diverse workforce include higher productivity, improved performance, increased creativity, and better decision-making. Leaders committed to serving diverse communities effectively should prepare themselves to address three critical challenges: creating a culture of inclusion, setting an expectation for inclusive leadership behavior, and aligning their company with equity issues faced by the communities they serve.

    While the energy sector has made progress in diversity and inclusion, much more work is needed. The energy industry needs to adopt Diversity, Equity and Inclusion programs with action items and measurable results. Sustained diversity is the product of effective inclusion, and this requires not just highlighting principles in marketing campaigns, but systematically creating an internal company culture that supports and values them.

    It is important for leaders to use a developmental approach to cultivate cultural competence. During this session, instructors will utilize activities and tools to give insight into cross-cultural skills. Each attendee will participate in a 360-degree leadership development assessment that will reveal how their behavior as a leader is viewed in the workplace.

    Leadership from the top is imperative when driving culture change in a large enterprise. Company leaders must establish direction and accountability, and most importantly, must lead by example. Instructors will reveal data from the earlier assessment and give best practices for development of cross-cultural and inclusive skills. This session is focused on removing barriers that impede increased diversity and inclusion of talent.

    Instructors will share best practices and usable tools and strategies to map out the evolution of your diversity, equity, and inclusion plan. Topics covered include:

    • Creating Employee Resource Groups Employee resource groups ERGs) give employees an opportunity to meet like-minded people and share their culture and values.
    • Investing in Employee Growth Maintaining diversity at the leadership and management levels can be a challenge. Providing growth opportunities to employees is an excellent strategy to increase leadership diversity and retention of key workers.
    • Auditing Your Internal Policies Actionable steps to ensure polices, company handbooks, and job descriptions are inclusive to everyone, regardless of race, gender, or ability.

    Judy Analco, RIMS-CRMP, Consulting Director, Global Lead, Management Systems & Compliance Community, ERM

    Ms. Analco is a Consulting Director for ERM, a global sustainability consultancy. A RIMS-certified enterprise risk manager, she has 25+ years of broad, interdisciplinary expertise in integrating business and ESG risks, with a deep interest in organizational resilience. Judy leverages practical, systems-based approaches to help clients anticipate, manage, or exploit known and emerging risks to strategy, brand, operations, reputation, and human capital.

    Prior to joining ERM, Judy served as a first-in-the-industry environmental health executive for a major cruise line, and a section head in the public sector responsible for ESG and OHS across 60+ agencies, including an international airport. She is based currently in Durham, NC.

    Your registration may be transferred to a member of your organization up to 24 hours in advance of the event. Cancellations must be received on or before January 17, 2022 in order to be refunded and will be subject to a US $195.00 processing fee per registrant. No refunds will be made after this date. Cancellations received after this date will create a credit of the tuition (less processing fee) good toward any other EUCI event. This credit will be good for six months from the cancellation date. In the event of non-attendance, all registration fees will be forfeited. In case of conference cancellation, EUCIs liability is limited to refund of the event registration fee only.     Requirements for Successful Completion of Program
