Drinking water distributors must comply with stringent regulations to ensure communities have safe and reliable drinking water but shortages, delays, and increased costs can create detrimental inefficiencies for water utilities, municipalities, and the public.

This course will dive into general supply chain elements and provide strategies for some of the most common issues impacting the water industry such as:

  • Mapping supply chain
  • Reviewing lead time elements
  • Discussing key supply chain strategies for improving reliability lead times
  • How best to lower risk

“Outside the supply chain” elements will also be discussed, as they specifically affect water chemical usage.

Learning Outcomes

  • Review relationship cultivation best practices for vendor management and communication
  • Implement strategies for successful supply chain management like Vendor Managed Inventory, dual sourcing, S&OP meetings, Purchase Orders (POs) with receipt dates, secondary markets, and more

Instructor

Eric Larson, Utility Solutions Manager, Badger Meter

Eric Larson is a Utility Solutions Manager with Badger Meter. He gives consultation to Badger customers to maximize the benefits of AMI metering and the use of Beacon Software. Prior to joining Badger Meter in October 2022, Eric worked as the Senior Manager of Operations for Illinois American Water. He oversaw water and wastewater operations in 12 municipalities. His operations included three bulk sale municipal contracts. Eric led the operations for Illinois American Water for 6 years. Prior to Eric joining American Water, he has held supply chain, leadership, and engineering roles in manufacturing working for fortune 500 companies including Caterpillar and Kraft-Heinz. Eric gained APICS certification in supply chain in 2013, his MBA in 2021, his chemistry undergraduate degree in 2004. He is a Class C water operator in Illinois. Eric is married and has four children.

We will be using Microsoft Teams to facilitate your participation in the upcoming event. You do not need to have an existing Teams account in order to participate in the broadcast – the course will play in your browser and you will have the option of using a microphone to speak with the room and ask questions, or type any questions in via the chat window and our on-site representative will relay your question to the instructor.

Your registration may be transferred to a member of your organization up to 24 hours in advance of the event. Cancellations must be received on or before December 09, 2022 in order to be refunded and will be subject to a US $195.00 processing fee per registrant. No refunds will be made after this date. Cancellations received after this date will create a credit of the tuition (less processing fee) good toward any other EUCI event. This credit will be good for six months from the cancellation date. In the event of non-attendance, all registration fees will be forfeited. In case of conference cancellation, EUCIs liability is limited to refund of the event registration fee only.
