Leadership Essentials: Improving Workflow & Productivity

Leadership Essentials: Improving Workflow & Productivity

July 27, 2022 | Online ::

We are continuously coordinating our actions and assessing our progress through a myriad of daily workflows-sometimes successfully and other times much less so.  Managing workflows among a team of employees with different skills and abilities can be a complex process. When people work outside of their natural flow or are required to work with others unfamiliar to them, this can lead to stress and anxiety. On the other hand, if workers are too familiar with their job and their colleagues, work gets done easily and opportunities to improve may be overlooked.

Work happens in conversation and reflects the capacity of our relationships.  Successful workflows involve clearly understanding who the customer and performer are, what respective commitments and accountabilities each holds, building sufficient relationships, navigating for the key stages of the workflow, as well as understanding what matters (within and beyond the results) and what constitutes a satisfactory outcome.

In this one-day course we will cover:

  • A new way of thinking about work – as a type of conversation flow
  • Customer and performer roles, accountabilities, and the relationship space
  • The mutual dependence of relationships and results
  • Workflow basics – quadrants and actions
  • Diagnosing workflows to improve effectiveness
  • Pragmatic approaches for getting or delivering results using workflow

Learning Outcomes

This virtual forum will provide attendees an opportunity to:

  • Identify the key stages of workflow
  • Engage in exclusive talks and interactive Q&A with to build knowledge of workflow quadrants and actions
  • Share techniques for delivering results through the use of optimal workflow
  • Discover the roles of the customer and performer and their accountabilities
  • Apply what is being learned through roundtable exercises and case-studies in each of the learning sessions
  • Establish strategies for diagnosing workflows to improve effectiveness

ESG for the Utility Sector

ESG for the Utility Sector

January 25-26, 2022 | , ::

Overview

The climate crisis poses a real threat not just to mankind but to the global economy.  This conference will serve as a platform for investors, financiers, utility companies, governments as well as stakeholders in the supply chain to have an in-depth dialogue in examining the key drivers, developments, challenges, and opportunities that lie in climate change, financial markets, and ESG.

This forum aims to provide participants with the necessary tools they will need to become an important part of this new investment paradigm.  Through a combination of presentation, discussion and case studies, participants will learn about financially material Environmental Social Governance (ESG) indicators, climate data providers, and how to translate corporate performance on sustainability into financial performance. Attendees will also hear from utility companies on some of best sustainability and ESG practices in the sector.  Executives will leave this course with ideas on how to adapt, incorporate or advance ESG investment practices within their organizations.

Learning Outcomes

This course will provide attendees an opportunity to:

  • Identify ESG metrics and trends that matters most to energy and utility companies

Advanced Distribution Management Systems (ADMS) Deployment

Advanced Distribution Management Systems (ADMS) Deployment

Complimentary Web Series

October 19-20, 2021 | Online ::

Overview

“EUCI does a great job brining the experience of the industry to the classroom in a very interactive way. The presenters tell you the truth! You will be able to start and advance your project and inject benchmarks into your own utility to deliver great results”, SCADA/EMS Manager, Jamaica Public Service

“Hearing from the Vendors and the Peer presentations were extremely useful”, Manager, DTE

“Great topics and presentations, speakers were especially knowledgeable“, IT Manager, Exelon

The utility industry is experiencing a period of unprecedented change. Demand for customer centricity, the rise of consumers demanding electricity flows from and to the grid, technology advancements, digitalization, and the requirements for more reliability plus, control and supply of Distributed Energy Resources (DERs) has forced this change.  Across the globe, Advanced Distribution Management Systems (ADMS) have been implemented successfully and are now operating, ready to cope with and analyze the increased data and need for higher-level analytics to make their distribution systems more efficient, responsive, and ready to include DER levels never seen before.

But getting high quality information on…, “From Where I Stand, to Where I need to Go?” is not easily accessible.

This series of webinars, each co-presented with a Utility, will focus on technology, deployment and the do’s and don’ts of such ADMS implementation.   A “Vendor Panel” will complete the series.  Fully interactive, the reason for this unique event is to allow electric utilities from across the globe to access, in the most efficient manner possible, and for free, the best of the best vendors and their client case studies.  Utilities will be able to see into their future with the ability to access the most complete ADMS solutions available.

Utilities who have realized the need for an ADMS, no matter their number of meters and their legacy SCADA/DMS/OMS systems, will realize in two days the universe of what is possible and how each different vendor accommodates their performance requirements.

Learning Outcomes

  • Hear from the Top ADMS Software Vendor from across the globe
  • Examine their software characteristics and benefits
  • Explain how the Vendor’s worked with their client Utilities to design the ADMS software specific to their Utility and Legacy software systems
  • Discuss how to implement such software, “all at once” or “over time”
  • Explain how leveraging technology improves their grid modernization efforts including how to incorporate increased DERs coming into their own grids, known or unknown
  • Participate in a fully interactive Panel Discussion featuring our Vendors in a fast paced environment allowing each to differentiate their ADMS

Leveraging DER and Advanced Inverters to Support Grid Operations via Advanced Distribution Management Systems (ADMS)

Due to a range of economic, regulatory and environmental drivers, DER such as solar PV and electric vehicles are being interconnected to the distribution grid at a fast pace. If passively managed, DER can present unique challenges to electric power utilities. GE Digital will share how DER and advanced inverters can be integrated into Grid Operations via an ADMS.

Jesse Gantz, Senior Product Manager, Renewables and DER Orchestration, GE Digital’s Grid Software

2:00 – 3:00 p.m. :: Data-driven Reliability – Leveraging ADMS, DERs, new data sources and mobile technologies

For years, distribution operators and engineers were starving for data. Now they’re swimming in it. The challenge today is to turn that data into value in terms of better reliability, safety and operational efficiency. Brad Williams, Oracle Utilities VP of Industry Strategy and Innovation Engineering, will discuss the central role that ADMS, analytics and mobile technologies play in extracting that value. With the help of LBNL’s principal investigator for NREL’s FAST-DERMS project, SDG&E will share learnings from operational and R&D initiatives to leverage data, control and automation to more quickly identify, isolate and remediate network faults using ADMS, DER management and mobile technologies.

Moderator:

Brad Williams, VP of Industry Strategy and Innovation Engineering, Oracle Utilities

Panelists:

Cory Mitsui, Manager of Electric Distribution Operations, SDG&E

Jason MacDonald, Principal Scientific Engineering Associate, LBNL

Build-Transfer Agreement Fundamentals

Build-Transfer Agreement Fundamentals

An important instrument for utilities as they pursue eventual and outright ownership of solar assets is a build-own-transfer agreement (BTA/BOT).  It is a “value meal” – an all-in-one approach that borrows elements of purchase and sale agreements with EPC agreements.  Under this transactional arrangement, a third party develops and constructs…
