| About the Instructors: Gregory K. Lawrence, Partner, McDermott Will & Emery LLP Gregory K. Lawrence is a Partner in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery and is based in the Firm's Boston office. He is co-head of the Firm's Renewables practice and head of the New (GREEN) Products group. Mr. Lawrence focuses on the electricity and natural gas industries. He specializes in Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and state utility commission regulatory proceedings, compliance and enforcement, transactions and negotiations, asset transfers, and governmental affairs. Mr. Lawrence has counseled clients regarding matters before more than 22 state utility commissions. His clients include financial institutions and funds, marketers, traders, renewable and other project developers, municipal and investor-owned utilities, and large energy consumers. He formerly was a counsel with the Massachusetts Department of Public Utilities. Stefan Schmitz, Partner, McDermott Will & Emery LLP Stefan Schmitz is a Partner in the London office of McDermott Will & Emery. Dual qualified in England and Germany, Stefan has been in involved in renewable energy projects, including offshore wind for a decade. He was the only lawyer from an international firm who was invited to the Offshore Finance Circle, the think tank set up by HVB, PwC and Marsh to discuss the bankability of offshore wind projects. Stefan has been involved in the first offshore wind project in one of the Great Lakes in the United States. Stefan has published widely on the subject and is a regular speaker at conferences and seminars. Sergio A. Pozzerle, Partner, McDermott Will & Emery LLP Sergio A. Pozzerle is a Partner in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery LLP and is based in the Firm's Houston office. Sergio focuses his global practice on project development and finance, corporate finance, and mergers and acquisitions. Sergio has a very active renewable energy practice, spanning the entire range of renewable technologies (including wind, solar and biomass), and also advises on co-generation and other traditional power projects, LNG terminals, drilling rigs and other energy and infrastructure projects. Sergio has extensive experience in every stage of project development and finance, from joint venture formation , acquisition/divestiture, equipment supply/construction (EPC), fuel/resource procurement, selling/marketing the end product to the debt and equity financing of those activities. He has particular practice experience in the financing structures for the rapidly evolving and expanding wind and solar power generation market. Sergio also handles a wide variety of corporate financings and acquisitions and divestitures, including negotiated transactions and controlled auctions, with an emphasis on projects and entities that own projects. Blake H. Winburne, Partner, McDermott Will & Emery LLP Blake H. Winburne is a Partner in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery LLP and is based in the Firm's Houston office. He is a transactional lawyer focusing on the downstream and midstream energy sectors. Blake advises clients on the development, structuring and financing of large-scale energy projects and on energy sector mergers, acquisitions, dispositions and joint ventures, both in the United States and abroad. He regularly represents multinational energy companies, large private equity funds, project developers and sponsors, borrowers and debt issuers, investment banks, and other capital providers and investors in the energy industry. Blake has significant experience in the electric power sector, including fossil fuel-fired, simple and combined cycle and cogeneration generating facilities; as well as wind, solar (central station and distributed), landfill gas, biomass and other renewable energy projects.
