Underground Transmission

Overview

New transmission is being planned at a fast and furious rate to sustain a reliable system while accommodating growing demand and the need to bring new and different types of generation online. The desire to preserve open space, coupled with aesthetic issues, means utilities must consider installing underground transmission. Going underground with transmission is not usually a transmission owner's first choice: The cost of underground transmission has traditionally been many times the cost of overhead transmission, and maintenance and repair have proved costly and difficult. However, going underground is necessary to bring a project to completion.

This is the ideal event for utilities considering UT projects or looking for new approaches to existing systems.

Attendees will hear from experienced professionals on the following:
[*Reasons for taking transmission underground
*Installation techniques
*Underground and submarine cable systems
*Maintenance, testing, and repair for high-voltage cable systems]
